The Plano Rotary Club is proud to sponsor the 2009 Hendrick Scholarship Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament.
The Hendrick Scholarship Foundation provides a scholarship program for disadvantaged students who overcame significant adversity in order to graduate from high school. Through a college education, the Foundation seeks to enable these students to realize their dreams of breaking out of the cycle of poverty. In addition to multi-year college scholarships, students receive ongoing support through mentoring, educational planning, and assistance with locating resources to meet basic living needs.
Since 1991, Hendrick Foundation has offered over 200 scholarships. There are currently 65 students in the program who are attending colleges throughout North Texas.
This year, the tournament will be held at Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club. Set on 575 acres in the charming town of Fairview, this spectacular Arthur Hills-designed north Texas golf course features extraordinary terrain and scenery. This 18-hole, par 72 north Texas golf course measures 7,040 yards from the back tees, demanding accurate shot making, while four sets of tees and a wide variety of golf holes delight players of all skill levels.
There will many opportunities to win fantastic prizes through games and contests. Golf lovers, you are not going to want to miss this!Along with an awards dinner, there will be a silent and live auction. "Doc" Gibbs, popular entertainer, will peform at the dinner.
Drew Pearson, legendary Dallas Cowboys player, will be there as well as other sports celebrities!
If you want to come only for dinner and to participate in the games and contests, you are welcome to do so. Players, purchase "dinner only" tickets and have your families join you after the tourament!
Attention Rotary Clubs! The Plano Rotary Club is issuing a challenge. The Rotary Club with the highest percentage of members participating in the tournament will be receive a scholarship named after the club, first place banner, recognition, and the trophy.
If a club cannot field a team or desires "extra" percentage participation points, credit for 4 players will be awarded for a donation of $750.
The top 10 finishers will each receive recognition and a banner commemoratng their accomplishment.
